Sucrosomial® Technology
Sucrosomial® Technology, designed and patented by PharmaNutra, helps to preserve, transport, protect and facilitate the absorption of certain essential nutrients for the human body, such as iron, selenium, zinc, iodine, calcium and magnesium.
What is Sucrosomial® Technology?
The name Sucrosomial® Technology is derived from Sucrosome®, the complex of components that surround the nutrient, protect it, transport it and facilitate its absorption in the intestine. Sucrosomial® Technology can be applied to several basic elements such as iron, selenium, zinc, iodine, calcium or magnesium and is therefore a novel tool for creating specific supplements for any deficiencies or increased needs for these nutrients.
Sucrosomial® Technology applied to iron
The nutritional supplements of the SiderAL® range specifically contain Sucrosomial® Iron (Sideral®), a preparation containing iron pyrophosphate transported within a matrix of phospholipids and sucrose esters of fatty acids, which protects the entire Sucrosome® structure, by preventing the release of free iron in the stomach, or intestine, and instead is absorbed intact via endocytosis.

Conventional iron salts, present in most nutritional supplements used for iron deficiency, are only absorbed via limited DMT1 uptake channels in the duodenum and are limited by the hormone hepcidin. Sucrosomial® Technology provides excellent tolerabilitywith an incidence of GI side-effects < 4.5%. In the specific case of iron, Sucrosomial® Technologydrastically reduces the side-effects often associated with conventional iron supplementation, such as a metallic and unpleasant aftertaste, irritation of the gastric mucosa, abdominal pain, or constipation. By overcoming these limitations on iron intake, Sucrosomial® Technology promotes the intake of this important nutrient in all situations of deficiency or increased needs for iron.
